Terms of Service

These terms are between you and Traction Labs, the studio behind Katha AI. By downloading, installing, or using Katha AI, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Katha AI is

Katha AI is a mobile app where adults create AI-generated stories across a range of genres, read stories, generate audio narration and cover art or character portraits for their stories, and optionally publish their work to a public feed where other users can read, comment on, like, and follow it.

2. Who can use it

Katha AI is for adults. By using Katha AI, you confirm you are at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that's higher, and that if you are under the age of majority where you live, you have a parent or guardian's permission to use it. Katha AI is not directed at children. Its "kids mode" only changes the tone and content of stories an adult user chooses to generate — it does not make Katha AI a child-directed service, and we don't verify age beyond this confirmation.

3. Your account

Katha AI gives every new install an anonymous guest account automatically. You can claim an account by verifying your email address with a one-time code — there's no password. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since that's how you sign in.

You can delete your account at any time. See our account deletion page for exactly what happens when you do.

4. Your content

You own what you create. Stories, chapters, characters, and comments you write in Katha AI are yours.

To let us run the app, you grant Traction Labs a licence to host, store, reproduce, and display your content as needed to operate Katha AI — for example, to show your drafts back to you, to generate audio and images from your text, and, if you choose to publish, to display your content to other users and let them comment on, like, bookmark, and follow it.

If you publish a story publicly, you're granting that licence for as long as the story stays published — including after you delete your account, since published stories remain online under an anonymised byline rather than being taken down. 5. Publishing and the safety gate

Stories are private by default. You choose, deliberately, when to publish a story to the public feed.

Before a story can be published, our system screens it. If it detects that the story involves a real, identifiable living person — whether a public figure or a private individual — it will keep that story private even if you try to publish it. This is an automated check and isn't perfect, so we also rely on user reports (see below).

6. Prohibited uses

When creating or publishing content on Katha AI, you agree not to create, publish, or share:

• Sexual content involving a real, identifiable person
• Any content that sexualises minors, in any form
• Content that harasses, threatens, or targets a specific individual
• Content that is illegal where you live or where Katha AI operates
• Content that impersonates a real person or organisation

We may remove content that violates these rules, and may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate them.

7. Reporting content

If you come across a published story, comment, or profile that you believe breaks these rules, you can report it in the app or by emailing hi@thetractionlabs.com with a link or description of the content. We review reports and act on them, which may include removing content or restricting an account.

8. AI-generated content — please read this

The stories, images, and audio narration Katha AI generates are produced by AI models. This means:

• Output can be inaccurate, nonsensical, unoriginal, or unexpected. AI models sometimes produce content that overlaps with existing works even without copying them.
• You are responsible for reviewing what you generate before you publish it, and for how you use it.
• We don't guarantee that generated content is free of errors, bias, or resemblance to existing works.
• Generating something does not, by itself, mean it complies with these terms — the prohibited-use rules above still apply to what you choose to publish or share.

9. Subscriptions and credits

Some features in Katha AI are available through paid credits or subscriptions, sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed with the help of RevenueCat.

• Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• Cancelling: you cancel through your Google Play subscription settings or your Apple ID subscription settings — not inside Katha AI itself, and not by emailing us. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. We can point you to the right settings screen if you're stuck, but only Apple or Google can process the cancellation.
• Refunds: refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. We don't process refunds directly and can't override their decisions.
• Credits: credits are a licence to use a feature within Katha AI — they are not currency, are not transferable to another person or account, and are non-refundable, except where required by law.
• Katha AI never receives or stores your payment card details; that's handled entirely by Apple's or Google's billing systems.

10. Third-party services

Katha AI relies on outside providers to work — for example, to generate story text and images, produce audio narration, manage subscriptions, send push notifications, and understand how the app is used. Our privacy policy lists exactly which providers receive what. By using Katha AI, you agree that parts of your content may be processed by these providers for the purposes described there.

11. Ending your access

You can stop using Katha AI and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, misuses the service, or creates risk for other users, with notice where practical.

12. No warranty

Katha AI is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't promise that the app or the AI-generated content it produces will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose. Use it at your own discretion.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TRACTION LABS IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF KATHA AI, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA OR CONTENT, EVEN IF WE'VE BEEN ADVISED SUCH DAMAGES ARE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO KATHA AI IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

Nothing in this section limits liability that can't legally be limited where you live.

14. Governing approach

These terms are meant to be interpreted fairly and in good faith, in a way consistent with the consumer-protection and platform rules that apply to you wherever you access Katha AI, and with the app store terms (Apple's or Google's) under which you downloaded it. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable under the law that applies to you, the rest remains in effect.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Katha AI after a change means you accept the updated terms.
