Delete your account

You can delete your Katha AI account at any time, either in the app or using the form below. This page explains exactly what happens when you do, so there are no surprises.

Please read this before you delete

If you've published any stories publicly, they stay online. Deleting your account removes your personal data, but stories you deliberately published — along with their chapters and comments — remain available to readers. Your name is removed and replaced with an anonymised byline, but the work itself isn't taken down. We do this so that other people who bookmarked, followed, or are partway through reading your published work don't lose access to it. If you don't want this, unpublish or delete individual stories yourself before you delete your account.

Everything else tied to you personally is removed or permanently scrubbed, as set out below.

What happens to your data

If you were only ever using Katha AI as an anonymous guest and never claimed your account with an email address, there's no personal data attached to you to delete — you can simply stop using the app or uninstall it.

How to delete your account

In the app: go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account, and confirm. This starts the deletion process immediately.

By request: use the form on this page, or email hi@thetractionlabs.com from the address associated with your account, and tell us you'd like your account deleted. If you're not sure which email is on your account, include whatever details you can (username, display name) and we'll help you confirm.

What to expect after you ask

We'll acknowledge your request within 7 days, and complete the deletion within 30 days. If we need anything from you to verify the account is yours, we'll ask right away so it doesn't hold things up.
